Editors Note: Due to deadline, the results from the COD-Chaffey games on April 24 and
April 26 could not be recorded.

The COD baseball team is currently on a four-game winning streak after defeating Mt. San Jacinto and Barstow (three consecutive times).

The Roadrunners' pitching was the deciding factor in the 3-1 victory over Mt. San Jacinto in the second game of a doubleheader on April 12. Starting pitcher Angel Mata overcame a 101-degree fever and battled through for the victory.

The next three games against Barstow were absolute blow-outs as the Roadrunners scored a total of 55 runs.

The final score of the first game at Barstow was 19-13. Brad Hammer went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, while Wes McCollum, Jaysen Coleman, Chris Young and Naoya Washiya had two RBIs apiece.

The Roadrunners then hosted a double header against Bar-stow on April 19 where they won 18-0 in the first game and 18-1 in the second.

In the first game, Ismael Gutierrez struck out five batters and allowed four hits in seven innings for the win.

Second baseman Ryan Morales and catcher Chris Young sparked the offense as they both went 3 for 3 with four RBIs. Chris Zamudio added three hits and scored four times.

In the second game, first baseman Tyler Doran went 4 for 4 with five RBIs. Zamudio, Braden Schaidt and Brad Hammer also contributed with three hits apiece.

Mata was the winning pitcher, striking out five in six innings.

The recent victories have placed the Roadrunners in a favorable position for a spot in the postseason. The baseball team must win four of their final six games for a guaranteed spot in the playoffs.

Head coach D.J. Simonette believes his team has what it takes to not only reach but do well in the playoffs.

"Right now we control our own destiny for getting into the playoffs, said Simonette. "Lately the guys have done an excellent job of stepping up and our concentration has been really well, we just need to click on all cylinders and finish the season with a bang."

The Roadrunners currently have an overall record of 21-16 and 13-5 in the Foothill Conference. They trail first-place Chaffey in the Foothill Conference standings.

The baseball team travels to Rio Hondo on Tuesday before ending the regular season at home with a double header on Thursday against Rio Hondo.
