The Pollock Theatre at College of the Desert hosted a student-staff open discussion forum on Wednesday November 4th. The school meeting allowed students to pitch series of questions to representatives as well as give their input on what they believe should be changed at COD.

Spring 2010 registration begins Thursday, December 3rd for Priority 1 students. The registration process can be frustrating as classes are expected to fill quicker than in the past, due to severe budget cuts, fewer class sections being offered and higher enrollments expected.

I am a veteran. Strike that I am a proud veteran. I couldn't help feel a sense of pride when the F-18 fighter jet flew over Palm Canyon Dr. to kickoff the 13th Annual Veteran's Day Parade in Palm Springs.
The parade was full of honor, respect and pride led by the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Marching Band.

A new Waitlist procedure will be in place for Spring registration beginning December 3rd when Priority 1 Registration starts. For the first time in College of the Desert's history, waitlisting will be an option for students trying to enroll in closed classes.

The Cooperative Work Experience Edu-cation program provides an opportunity for working students to earn college credit. Registration for work experience is done at the same time as registering for any other class at College of the Desert (COD). Students may sign up for either 12 or 16- week commitment at the beginning of the semester to obtain college credit while they work.

Campus clubs and honor students at College of the Desert are collecting food donations to help the homeless just in time for the holidays. The clubs involved include: ASCOD, ACES, and MESA. They have teamed up with Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society, to launch their Homeless Awareness project.

November 7th the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport hosted its sixth annual Air Show. The high flying and stunts began at 9 a.m. and was wowing the crowd within the hour. The weather was perfect for the event and there were an estimated 40,000 people in attendance.

On November 17, 2009, the gang from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia will release a Christmas special on DVD and Blu-ray called A Very Sunny Christmas.
Starring Kaitlin Olson (Dee), Charlie Day (Charlie), Rob McElhenney (Mac), Glenn Howerton (Dennis), and Danny DeVito (Frank), the Sunny cast celebrates the holidays in a one hour unrated DVD.

The gorgeous Colombian actress, Sofia Vergara, stars in this season's best comedy sitcom "Modern Family" from ABC.
Sofia is one of the hottest and most beloved personalities of the Hispanic world and has even found crossover success in the US.

On Monday November 2nd, 2009, the Latino Leadership Network hosted the Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration at College of the Desert.
Dia de Los Muertos is a traditional Latino celebration that has been passed down through several Latin cultures to commemorate loved ones who have passed away, and combines All Saints Day and All Souls Day.

George Lopez, comedian and actor, made his groundbreaking late-night television debut on November 16th with his racy new show, "Lopez Tonight'' (TBS, 11 p.m. Monday thru Thursday.)

Monday, November 16th the College of the Desert Men's basketball team had their first home game against El Camino Compton Center. Going into the game people were excited to see their Roadrunners play at home after their not-so-spectacular show in Arizona.

The COD women's basketball program has changed drastically since last year. With a new coaching staff headed up by Barbara Grainge, the girl's team is looking competitive and ready to play hard. With a few games under their belt, and still no victories to show for their hard work, coach Grainge bel-ieves the change the girls need to make in order to win is by competing in the moment and no to dwell on mistakes.

Apparitions: Paintings by Tim Robson and Kristin Winters, opened earlier this month at College of the Desert's Walter N. Marks Center for the Arts. An "apparition" is defined as "an act of appearing or becoming visible unexpectedly; manifestation;" both Robson and Winters, who are COD students as well as artists, create figurative paintings, many large-scale, that often evoke a haunting feeling in the viewer.

With this in mind, ratemyprofessor.com is a site where students are able to get advice into which professors and courses are best suited for them.
