College of the Desert club F.A.M.E Connection is putting on the college's first talent show at the Pollock Theatre on Friday, May 30 at 6 p.m. Admission is $3 and tickets will be sold at the door.

F.A.M.E. Connection, short for Film, Art, Music, and Entertainment, is run by two college students, Lauren Kosvic, 20, and Rigo Vasquez, 18. Kosvic, president of F.A.M.E., and Vasquez, co-president, encourage students to come to the talent show and check out the various acts.

According to Kosvic, the show has received good reception and has drawn an array of talented people. Kosvic also promises great prizes up for grabs for the grand prize winner, including electronics partially funded by F.A.M.E. Connection.

You can additionally volunteer as an usher, which includes seeing the show for free and having your name printed in the program.

Kosvic said she hopes the talent show and the future plans of the club will bring a greater sense of community at the campus. Future club plans include a music event, for which Kosvic said they hope to include local bands and venders. Various F.A.M.E-sponsored events have gained local attention from media outlets such as The Desert Sun.

You can find out more information about the talent show at F.A.M.E's MySpace located at www.myspace.com/fameconnection.
